Wakefield Trinity Wildcats signed Australian forward Anthony Tupou for the 2016 season on a two-year contract.

Tupou started his glittering career at Sydney Roosters in the 2004 NRL season, his debut coming in the local derby win over South Sydney Rabbitohs. Despite this being his debut season, Tupou played off the bench in the Roosters’ Grand Final defeat to fellow Sydney team Canterbury Bulldogs.

Anthony continued to be a key part in the Roosters 17 totalling 111 appearances in his 5 years at the club.

During his time with the Bondi Boys, Tupou got the call to play for his country. Anthony made 11 appearances for the Kangaroos of Australia including the World Cup Final defeat to New Zealand in 2008 and the famous defeat to Great Britain in the 2006 Tri-Nations Tournament.

Tupou decided to move across Sydney to play for Cronulla Sharks in 2009. The Loose-Forward spent seven years with the Sharks racking up 125 NRL appearances for the club before deciding to try his hand in the Super League.

The New South Wales representative has also represented Tonga at international level playing at 13 in their defeat of Samoa.
