Last night former Wakefield player David Topliss was recognised for his committment to rugby league by being named in the Hall of Fame at the BBC Awards.
Topliss died suddenly in June aged 58 after collapsing during a five-a-side match - and there was recognition at the awards ceremony for the rugby league legend. Former Great Britain international Topliss captained both Wakefield and Hull in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley. His seven years in charge of Wakefield between 1987 and 1994 followed a 13-year playing career with the club.
He won the Lance Todd Trophy as Man of the Match in their last cup final appearance in 1979.
